A serious form-factor and access upgrade over GS1, with an evidence gap that the new T1D accuracy study still has to close.

A CE-marked, 14-day, calibration-free real-time CGM that is only 2.9 mm thick and sold through regional European storefronts and an Australian distributor. Its minimum age is 3 in selected countries and 18 in others. The manufacturer claims single-digit MARD, but the first registered T1D accuracy study has only just begun and no results are posted. It drives no AID system.

Editor’s take

Thinness matters every hour you wear a sensor, and this is a genuinely small device. But a glossy 8.7% MARD printed by the seller is not interchangeable with a completed, published T1D accuracy study. Until the registered study reports, GS3 earns credit for form factor and access — not a free accuracy pass.

The full picture

The SiBionics GS3 is the smaller successor to the GS1: a disposable, factory-calibrated real-time CGM worn for up to 14 days. The redesign is not a minor trim. SiBionics lists it at 24.8 × 17.8 × 2.9 mm and 1.7 g, versus 5.3 mm thick and 3.84 g for GS1, and packages the sensor and applicator as one unit.1 It sends a new reading to the phone app over Bluetooth every five minutes and supports configurable high and low alerts.1

Available does not mean fully evidenced

GS3 is CE-marked and intended for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, with a minimum age of 3 in selected countries and 18 in others. It is sold through SiBionics' regional storefronts and an Australian medical-device distributor.123 It is not FDA-cleared. Exact national authorization, reimbursement and supported phone models vary, so the availability list on this page is a market-level guide, not a promise that a local health service will fund it.

The manufacturer advertises MARD around 8.7%.4 That would put the sensor in modern mainstream territory if reproduced in an appropriate T1D accuracy study. The problem is that the first ClinicalTrials.gov record designed to do exactly that was posted only on 4 August 2026. It plans to compare GS3 against venous plasma measurements over 15 days in 36 adults with T1D, but it is still recruiting and has no results.5 We therefore do not score GS3 as if the seller's number were independently established.

What it cannot do

GS3 is a standalone monitor. SiBionics does not list any pump or commercial AID system that it drives, and there is no official open-source-loop integration. That is a large practical limitation for people whose CGM is the sensing layer of an automated system. It also measures glucose only — no ketones or other context signals.

The honest position today is straightforward: GS3 looks like a meaningful wearability and access improvement over GS1, and it is a real shipping product. Its T1D accuracy, lag during rapid change, end-of-wear reliability and hypoglycemia performance remain much less transparent than those of the leading integrated sensors.
