SOOIL Dana Diabecare RS

SOOIL Development

The Bluetooth tubed pump that helped make open-source AndroidAPS practical before the Dana-i. It is less current than Dana-i, but important for DIY-loop compatibility, CREATE-era evidence and the history of interoperable pump control.

The scorecard

Interoperability82

Supported by AndroidAPS and used in published DIY-loop evidence; official Bluetooth control made it an unusually open durable pump.[2]

Reliability65

Clinical AndroidAPS data using Dana hardware were reassuring, but public advisories disclosed Bluetooth/app vulnerabilities before version 3.0.[4]

Form factor50

Small tubed durable pump, not tubeless; practical but less discreet than a patch system.[1]

Phone control75

Bluetooth remote control through AnyDANA and AndroidAPS support, though setup and safety responsibility fall heavily on the user.[2]

Capacity70

300-unit reservoir and standard pump feature set suit most users for multi-day wear.[1]

Access & cost45

Available in several non-US markets and import channels, but not a US mainstream pump and increasingly superseded by Dana-i.[1]

Editor’s take

Dana RS is a connector record: less important than Dana-i for future purchasers, but central to the DIY/open-source lineage. It should exist so trials and loop records do not have to mislabel Dana-RS evidence as Dana-i or a generic pump.

The full picture

Why this is not just Dana-i

Dana-i is the cleaner current record. Dana RS is the predecessor that made a lot of real-world open-source looping possible: Bluetooth pump control, AndroidAPS support, and a practical import/availability path in several countries.

The caution is security and support. Public advisories documented vulnerabilities in Dana RS/AnyDANA versions before 3.0, and DIY-loop use depends on user skill, community documentation and careful configuration.
