Evidence behind this assessment

Key evidence notes. Study results, product eligibility and access answer different questions.

Who was studied?
Study populations and analysis groups vary. Product age limits alone do not describe who was studied.
Benefit or performance
Accuracy: Provisional editorial score; no clinical accuracy result in the announcement.[1]
Important harms and treatment burden
Read the safety discussion and original sources. A missing summary does not establish safety.
Approval and country access
Country-specific approval and access are not summarized in this record.Approval, trial recruitment, local supply and funding are separate. Check the cited label or access source.
Follow-up and remaining uncertainty
Read the record-specific review limits for gaps in evidence, source access or availability checks.

Research status alone does not establish approval, clinical benefit or local availability. This record cites company or conference reports. Those sources may describe interim findings; their source type is shown in the source list.

Editorial score: calculation and evidence

A weighted editorial judgment on a 0–100 scale, not a probability of success or a measured treatment effect. Higher criterion scores mean more favorable assessments.

Default calculation: 35 × 20 + 35 × 15 + 10 × 15 + 65 × 10 + 50 × 10 + 50 × 10 + 70 × 10 + 0 × 5 + 0 × 5 = 3725; divide by total weight 100. Unrounded weighted result: 37.25.

Accuracy35

Provisional editorial score; no clinical accuracy result in the announcement.[1]

Low lag35

Provisional editorial score; no lag measurement disclosed.[1]

Interoperability10

No commercial pump integration confirmed.[1]

Sensor lifespan65

Projected longer wear; duration not disclosed or approved.[1]

No calibration50

Calibration requirements undisclosed; provisional editorial score.[1]

Alerts & prediction50

Redesigned app announced; alert performance undisclosed.[1]

Form factor70

Smaller and lighter design promised; dimensions undisclosed.[1]

Ketone sensing0

No ketone sensing announced.[1]

Access & cost0

Not commercially available in this announcement.[1]

Editor’s take

Scores are editorial judgments about the evidence and practical features, not measured comparative performance or a probability of success.

The full picture

i-SENS says CareSens Air 2 will be shown at EASD 2026 and is scheduled for launch in early 2027. The announcement describes smaller and lighter hardware, longer wear and a redesigned app without giving numerical specifications, an approved age range or a country-specific launch commitment.1

The scores are explicitly provisional editorial projections. They do not establish accuracy, safety or approval, and the existing CareSens Air specifications must not be copied onto this successor. The separately registered CareSens Air 3 study is not assumed to be the same product.
